FAQ

For Students:

Industry placement:

Why do I have to do a 12-month industry placement?

The ARC ITTC program requires a 12-month industry placement as a part of the grant funding.

What does the 12-month industry placement mean?

An industry placement may mean any or all of the following:

  • An overseas or inter-state placement.
  • Time spent in meetings and other events which colocalise industry and you.
  • Time spent doing research at an industry placement.
  • Time spent observing administrative, social, research, R&D, etc discussions of the industry placement.
What if I can’t leave my base location for 12-months for the industry placement?

The industry placement can be done throughout the candidacy or within a 12-month period.  There are many partner organisations and many ways to interact with them – all of which count towards the required 12-months.

Can I pick where I do my industry placement?

The placements will be based on the project and what would be most beneficial for it and the student.

Can I apply as an international student?

There are official ways to verify this.  If you are offered a centre scholarship, you will need to submit your application to the corresponding university.  They will provide additional information.

Am I done after getting a letter offering a centre scholarship?

No!  The centre letter only confirms your acceptance to the centre.  You will then need to apply to the appropriate institution.
